Book NowThe Kuari Pass Trek is a scenic and historically significant trail in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, offering breathtaking views of the mighty Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Chaukhamba, and Hathi-Ghoda Parvat. This trek is perfect for beginners and experienced trekkers alike, with an easy to moderate difficulty level and a diverse landscape of dense oak and rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, and panoramic ridgelines.
Starting from Joshimath, the trek takes you through charming villages, ancient trade routes, and stunning high-altitude campsites before reaching the Kuari Pass at 12,516 ft. The route holds historical significance, as it was once traversed by Lord Curzon during British rule, earning it the name Curzon Trail.
The trek is available year-round, but winter (December to March) offers a magical experience with snow-covered landscapes, while spring and summer (April to November) bring lush greenery and blooming flora. With comfortable stays in hotels, guesthouses, and camps, along with delicious meals, this adventure is perfect for those seeking a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty in the lap of the Himalayas.
Depart from Rishikesh at 7:00 AM and begin your journey toward Joshimath through picturesque mountain routes. Enjoy the scenic beauty along the way as you ascend into the Garhwal Himalayas.
Breakfast and lunch will be self-paid and available at stops en route. Upon arrival in Joshimath, check in to your guest house or hotel. In the evening, enjoy dinner followed by introductions and a detailed trek briefing by the trek leader.
After breakfast, travel to Tugasi village—the starting point of your trek. Begin your trek towards the Gulling campsite through forest trails and terraced fields.
Upon arrival at the campsite, enjoy a warm lunch. In the evening, take a short acclimatization walk to help your body adjust to the altitude. Evening snacks and dinner will be served at the campsite.
Begin the day with breakfast at the Gulling campsite. The trek continues as you head towards Khulara camp, moving deeper into alpine meadows and oak forests.
Reach Khulara and enjoy lunch at the campsite. Take an acclimatization walk in the surrounding area during the evening. Dinner will be served followed by rest under the starry sky.
Today is summit day! After an early breakfast, begin your ascent to the magnificent Kuari Pass. The trail rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of towering Himalayan peaks.
After spending some time at the pass, begin the descent toward Tali campsite. Arrive by evening and settle in for dinner and overnight stay at Tali.
After breakfast at Tali, begin your final descent through forested trails and charming villages toward Tugasi or Dhak.
Upon reaching the roadhead, board your vehicle for the drive back to Joshimath. Relax and unwind with an overnight stay at a hotel.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before starting your return journey to Rishikesh. The drive offers one last look at the beautiful landscapes you've explored.
Expected arrival in Rishikesh is around 7:00 PM. With hearts full of memories and a sense of accomplishment, this marks the end of your Kuari Pass trek.
